Temporary Working Platforms

Landpac high energy ground improvement technologies are well suited to addressing the specific requirement of improving the load bearing capacity of areas containing relatively poor material to enable the creation of consistent and reliable temporary platforms to support working equipment such as piling rigs, cranes etc. to operate safely within the construction industry regulations.

Accelerated Consolidation

The high energy blows transferred to the material being treated by the Landpac high energy compaction equipment generate shock waves that are capable of significantly increasing the pore water pressure to great depths (up to 20m) within saturated soils. This increased pore water pressure can lead to greatly increased rates of dissipation of water throughout the volume of saturated material provided that suitable drainage paths are available. By repeating a limited number of Landpac high energy compaction coverages at regularly spaced intervals, the pore water pressure is able to be maintained at an elevated level that can ensure a constantly increased rate of water dissipation throughout the material. This in turn leads to a greatly accelerated rate of primary consolidation of saturated soils when compared with the conventional technique of surcharging the area with a large static load.

Site Surface Reduction

The ability of the Landpac high energy compaction equipment to induce relatively high levels of settlement in in-situ and placed fill materials makes it suitable for reducing the level of the site surface being treated down to the required formation level. In so doing it is able to generate great savings by reducing the amount of material required to be exported in order to get the site down to formation level.

Permeability Reduction

The high energy, low frequency and relatively long load duration of the Landpac compaction equipment allows for the effective reduction of air voids in sandy soils down to great depths as well as the kneading of clay soils deep below the surface to close large fissures. This reduction of air voids and closure of fissures in turn leads to significant reduction in the permeability of the material being treated.

Landpac high energy compaction equipment has been used effectively on the following permeability reductions applications:
- Sealing of In-Situ Clays (eg. Rice Fields)
- Sealing of Embankments (eg. Canal Banks)
- Sealing of Sandy Soils (eg. Dam Construction)
